Who We Are
The New Forest Project is a grassroots organization that helps communities in Latin America by marketing their sustainably produced forest products in the Williamsburg area and beyond. By doing so, the New Forest Project simultaneously protects the forests and the communities' economic stability.
The Problem
Forests across the Americas are being destroyed to make a quick profit. Poverty has spread wide and far. Indigenous cultures that live sustainably on these forests are also threatened. We must save our forests and protect our cultures.
Our Approach
Instead of getting involved in politics or protests, our organization tries to solve problems directly by creating a connection between communities in Latin America and the US. We use the resources of the forest to protect the forest. We raise money by selling sustainably produced forest products, then reinvest as much as possible in the communities that made the products.
